Domain Appraisal Guide
Posted on June 4th, 2009 in 1 |

Here 10 Points:
1) TLD. (Extension domain name)
2) Keyword (The domain extension)
3) (The the with extension)
4) of name. (Like or letters)
5) or not.
6) Pronounceable (The and ability)
7) able (Best Google.com)
Plural
9) relation (Some look that domain type not)
10) results (This some while domain name)
Now me in detail:
1) TLD .com commercial most TLD. newbie what .coms for. one go site type site .com it. .com version domains highly to version tld’s for domain.
2) Keyword Itself The the itself. If poker then great. it then weaker the casinos. for name very establish and easily.
3) OVT overure us of on keyword. gives idea kind to if a this domain name. is 100% fool proof. after site must well should content competitors a in engines.
4) Length Domain The plays role of name. better. domain say 4 it high prices. to long domains. (Here also a catch: fhur.com is it more hotappz.com) Because one keywords brandable the fhur.com shorter one.
Another point domain there only in domains. are are antique they priced. letters 456976 of the have for or years. And combinations letters meaning for $xx prices.
5) Dictionary is word is good. it better prices. a wants furniture their website. they domain it company domain. Why? Because normal wants furniture furniture the .com after the he the company’s site. And company more targeting more to competitors.
So the dictionary domains.
6) Pronounceable If is it easy users it more users to without searching time. helps brand the market.
7) able the not and doesn’t any then be to it. The as above google.com didn’t meaning ago. every what means. Some brandable be juhy.com, vhuv.com etc.
Singular Plural Now domain a then get then version particular name. Like digitalpoint.com better digitalpoints.com Some is in of also. EX: LatestGirls.com better LatestGirl.com Because user see a
this situation one $$’s singular one.
9) Keyboard relation some is amount domain wants it take points one. EX: fhur.com is able keyboard jyos.com (I don’t go 100% this then has weight a name)
10) results Some see for name. also doesn’t any the google show results pages that word. This helpful some though.
If any please know try to them.

i would certainly keep all factors in mind before buying domains
Thanks for the guide, real helpful, and a big money saver.
Useful guide before posting
HE EHHE. Yeah samskpunk. Lets put both of 2C together. And make 4C
My point was based bcoz of what I have read and what people preffered.
And as I have already said in the guide there are exceptions when plurals are better then singular.
So the plural and singular thing will go on and on….
I think this decision the buyer will have to make himself if he wants to go with plural or singular.
And you can also see that in example digitalpoint.com looks better then digitalpoints.com
And about learning. You can PM me if you have some queries. I will try and help you out.
Oic, i am just a newbie and just point out what is obvious right to me. As i said it is just my 2C , so correct me if i am wrong
For singular plural, most word go better with plural IMHO
And since it is a guide and became "sticky", is it right to put something that even you are not sure about?
Once again i am just newbie and willing to learn, hope i can learn a trick or two from you
Welll I have been in domain market from a long long time. And This were the points which took me slowly but steadily towards the success. I wanted to share it with other users. And Admin also thought it looks neat so it is stickied.
You say in most cases plural is more expensive then singular. And I totally disagree with it. You can go and have a tour on some domain name forums and you will see that most domainers have that kind of feeling in their mind that singular is more costly then the plural one. That’s Why I have mentioned it there.
Point number 10 is useless as I have already mentioned in the guide itself. But still whenever a domain is placed for sale the seller puts the number of results it get in google search engine. It has nothing to do with the popularity of the domain name. But still 50% of buyers go for it.
And yeah overture is not overure It is overture.
^^^ See
i posted my domain appraisal for my , havent got any replies to it , but ur post gives me hope
Ovt is useful to estimate # of type-in that you would get. You will not get any "idea" for the number of traffic since SE traffic has nothing to do with domain name. OVT & OVT w/ext is useful only if the domain name is the exact search term imho.
in most case plural worth more than singular
never heard of name gain value becase it is earier to type. Unless it is typo of popular name
can you explain more about point 10? i am totally lost…
also it is overture not overure
just my 2c
Well juhy is brandable bcoz In india it is very famous name.
Next Yes I am the owner of most of the names that I have used in the article as an example. Because I didn’t wanted some guy shouting at me for using his name as an example for this guide.
juhy - i know it is llll.com. Please tell me how is it brandable? i can barely pronounce it.
Beside you are the owner of the name i believe
also there are some other factor like age of domain, # of type-in traffic, if the domain used before, hyphen
Thanks for the guide.
